stranded wire and tin (not gold plated) although I've tested both with a couple of multimeters and both have + or - 1 ohm resistance which is good. But I personally prefer the gold mine. Seems to be more flexible and for hard to reach connections I would go with gold plated ones first. This is my personal preference and has nothing to do with the quality and performance of the wire. Just try getting a 25ft roll at your local auto parts store! I have used this cable in many connections in my car and have not had any problems so far. I would buy roles again.
