Bought this for my dad as a retirement present; we both use it daily. I chose this particular model because the portafilter doesn't have to be rotated and inserted manually like most espresso machines. You simply insert it and pull the handle: very simple. He has arthritis in his hands and I knew he would appreciate a more streamlined process. The machine works great with both ground coffee and ESE pods - we've used both with no issues. All of our shots have good body and thick foam. I removed the black plastic piece from the steam wand as it seems to be for people who don't know how to properly froth milk for a latte or cappuccino. The steam wand is adequate and the black plastic part only creates large air bubbles in the cold milk so it had to be removed. Basically: you won't be opening your own coffee shop, but this machine is good enough for typical home use; The clip-on portafilter is a nice bonus for those who prefer it. Please note: the first machine we received was not working; However, thanks to the manufacturer's guarantee, we were able to get a replacement quickly, so I still give the product five stars. If the company was difficult to deal with or made a fuss about replacing a faulty device, my score would be lower.
