Review on Logitech G300s Optical Gaming Mouse with 9 Programmable Buttons and Onboard Memory – Perfect for Ambidextrous Gamers by Hideo Masuda ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I was surprised by the quality for this price.

In 2022, my old mouse died, so I had to look for a replacement. I found some Chinese one with a bunch of buttons, which I immediately fell in love with, but in the reviews for it, one kind person said that this is a complete copy of the G300 and it’s better to take it. Indeed, they were identical in design, except that it looked cheaper. I decided not to cheapen and did not lose. I still really like this mouse, both externally and functionally. I give it a 5 out of 5 because even though I've had other mice with some more standout features, the G300s still leaves a positive overall impression. The coating does not irritate, the buttons are being repaired, and I don’t even pay attention to the backlight.

Pros
  • * Convenient location of additional buttons. How many mice were not, they all have extra. the buttons were located on the left side of the case, implying that you should press them with your thumb. I used only the near button, since I always had to reach for the far one, which in practice turned out to be completely inconvenient for me. Immediately I use all six without feeling discomfort at all. * Customization, where without it. I took it just for her sake. In software from Logitech, you can reassign the actions of all six buttons + clicking on the wheel, for a total of 7 customizable buttons. The only thing that upset me was the inability to put on additional. Alt + RMB button (change the size of the brush in Photoshop), since there is no way to mix mouse buttons with keyboard keys. * Remembers everything you ask her. That is, an additional key will press some Alt + Shift + Ctrl + F12, not because it is controlled by the program on the computer, but because it itself has memory and it processes these things internally. * The form itself is comfortable. Great in the hand. The left and right buttons are tight, which does not allow you to make accidental clicks by relaxing your fingers (this happened with almost all mice). * High sensitivity and flexible setting. Buying a new mouse has always brought me great discomfort, since the sensitivity of the cursor has always been different and I had to retrain and get used to aiming for several days, or maybe even a week. Immediately I built the sensitivity and got used to the mouse in about 30 minutes. * Appearance. I'm not a fan of any design solutions, but this mouse just looks solid, it pleases the eye. And the case is reliable, nothing staggers, does not depart. * In three years of use, the wheel has never died or started to fail. This is a new record :)
Cons
  • * The wheel is more alive than all the living, but the mouse was not protected from double clicks. But I can’t call this a strong minus, since I have a whole box of old mice at home, and only one of them has retired with still working buttons. So this is the norm for mice, I guess. And also, if the hands grow from the right place, you can search on YouTube “how to fix a double click” and clean and straighten the piece of iron yourself. Even I succeeded, although I did not expect that it would work. Too bad I found out about this method so late. * Incorrect backlight colors. In the program, you choose that the mouse shines white, but in reality it gives off yellowish. And about a month ago, it looks like one of the bulbs burned out altogether. That is, you choose white or yellow, but both shine the same yellow, pink and red - red, and blue and green - green. * I do not know plus or minus, but the side buttons under the body have exactly the same mechanism as the main buttons. The downside is that they will probably start making double clicks over time as well. Plus - repairing them will be as easy as the main ones. * The side cover wears off over time. * Rather, this is just a nitpick: if the wire is bent, then it can move the mouse on the table (and the cursor on the screen) by its own force of straightening.
