I travel a lot for work and stay overnight. Most hotels these days have adopted the duvet/spread/mite concept, which is great when the room is cold, but most are too hot for me. Fortunately, some hotels also offer old-fashioned duvets, mostly Velux, which I prefer. At home, we use a duvet cover on the bed together with a cotton duvet in summer and a cotton duvet and another wool duvet in winter. Having layers allows us to shed the top duvet when it gets too warm. Our old wool blanket had been used for years and needed replacing so we turned to Revain and found this heavyweight blanket. Many of the wool blankets we reviewed at local stores were either way more expensive, too small for our king bed, or both. This blanket was larger than most we reviewed. We were blown away by the quality of this blanket! This is a fairly heavy blanket with a tight weave. Any wool blanket will scratch more than a cotton or polythene blanket, but we found this one to be quite soft and not a problem at all. We've washed it cold a few times with some Woolite and line dried it to take some of the toughness out. It seems to have worked and I would recommend doing so if purchasing this. The blanket itself is warm and beautiful! We expect it to last for many years and I recommend it.
