I love this duvet. It's heavy, big and well made. Since it's a mix, I suspect it will hold up well. Warm! There are only two problems with it - only dry fishing line (but I knew I was going in) and it stinks a bit. Just washed for the first time. Didn't smell before washing. I hope this goes away as it dries. EDIT: The blanket smells nice when dry and I have a very sensitive nose. Be sure to dry it. After several days of use, it's not as warm as I thought. You can see light through so I…

So good quality and easy to care for

I have a queen size gray throw. The color is beautiful and rich. The stitching is even and I like the large manufacturer's label; it reminds me of home growing up with those wool blankets. It fits my king size double bed; and the only blanket I found was this big. Very satisfied. I washed it for the first time in early summer before storing it until fall. I took it to the laundry and washed it in cold water in a large washing machine as recommended (no fabric softener). Then I put it in a giant

It's very good for the price.

For the price and versatility this is a very good duvet. Nice but not as interesting as pendulum tone. I washed it when I got it, not because it was necessary but simply because I do. Partial drying, then drying on the line. It's a bit scratchy as I would expect from a wool blanket, of course the sheets take care of that. The king size fits my Cal king bed snugly, folding the extra length about a foot over the top. The cat likes to snuggle up to this fold. I use it with an electric blanket…

Superb quality in a vintage quilt!

I travel a lot for work and stay overnight. Most hotels these days have adopted the duvet/spread/mite concept, which is great when the room is cold, but most are too hot for me. Fortunately, some hotels also offer old-fashioned duvets, mostly Velux, which I prefer. At home, we use a duvet cover on the bed together with a cotton duvet in summer and a cotton duvet and another wool duvet in winter. Having layers allows us to shed the top duvet when it gets too warm. Our old wool blanket had been…

Pros
  • Useful not only for the intended purpose
Cons
  • Annoying

This blanket is of very high quality. Heavy, the fabric is very dense, the seams along the edges are neat. It's also obviously wool - it's prickly and smells a bit when you take it out of the mailer. This is not offensive and is normal for virgin wool products. You must use this duvet with cotton sheets as it will scratch a little - again this is normal for most types of wool. This blanket reminds me of what I was able to find at my grandparents house and I love it. The brown stripe on the…

Outstanding quality - advertising, but nothing more

You can really see the quality of this blanket. It has double stitching, a good average weight and an overall nice coloration. While subjective, it's not overly scratchy, but it's soft and, as another reviewer mentioned, about as scratchy as a wool sweater. After airing, the smell is gone, but not entirely unpleasant. It reminded me of an old barn or farmhouse, a natural smell as opposed to a chemical smell which I personally liked. It's also quite large, with an almost too big overhang over…
