The first time I used it while waiting for the gel I lost a wad in the sink because it spilled. Should it be a gel? I'm not sure. It might work a little, my teeth look a little lighter. I will continue to use it as I have and hope my teeth get whiter but the liquid was a little disappointing. It might work better if it doesn't drip right off the toothbrush. Updated 7-26-21. I've found that when I shake it and hear liquid, I just don't press. then I can drip on the toothbrush. In the winter, our house is rarely warm enough to gel. Weird product but I love how clean my mouth gets after brushing my teeth so I keep using it. I'm on the sixth tube. So just check if you can hear the liquid moving and then be careful when you apply it to the brush so you don't lose it in the sink.
