we have a minivan. I have not tried them on a sliding door window but I have used them on front door windows. Not only have we used them, but I have recommended them to friends. We used them every day for 9 days, took them off every morning and put them on every night. After that they are still in great shape. Not only do they keep bugs out by letting some air in, they also keep rain out. They probably won't protect against heavy rain, but they will protect against light rain. When this pair wears out, I'll buy another pair. I don't think they will fit a sliding door window but they will probably fit SUV rear windows. I can buy an outline kit for the front window, although using a square kit for the outline window has also worked.
