I tried several different USB-C adapters to be able to use 2 external displays on an M1 Mac. That's the only thing I've had success with. However, you need to use additional software to complete the task. Setting it up was a bit tricky as you have to allow the software to access the screen recording. Also, I couldn't see the initial login screen on my external monitor - I had to login on my laptop and then both of my external screens appeared. Using the laptop's internal screen, I was able to make 3 unique displays work together. . There's supposed to be an extension that lets you log into one of the external displays instead of using the laptop's display, but I couldn't get it to work. This uses an external power adapter instead of a USB-C power input. It charges your laptop using a USB-C power source. It also offers some additional USB ports and a network jack. All of these options suited me. The build quality is good. It's larger than some of the smaller dongles, but it also sits better on your desk because it's an actual box, not a metal key.
