Great fan at a reasonable price!

After looking for a ceiling fan to complement our West Indian decor, we settled on this unit. There's no lighting kit included, which is a bit of a shame, but we ended up finding one we liked for another $30. What sets this block apart from similar blocks is the carved leaf pattern around the engine case - it adds a nice finishing touch. Because our ceiling is sloped, we needed a longer bottom rod than the 4 inch length that came with the fan. I have found that this rod is not the standard width you will find at your local hardware store - it must be made to special order (standard rods have 3/4" threads, this one has 1/2" threads). In any case, I decided to get creative and looked in the plumbing department - I found a 12" galvanized black steel pipe with 1/2" threads for about $2.50). It worked like a charm! The low speed of this fan is really low - the fan blades spin sluggishly and don't move much air, which is good if you just want to push warm air down. The high speed is really high and makes a good wind! The medium setting is likely to be used by most people and is a good default speed. Overall we are very happy with this purchase even though it has only been a week since installing it.
