Very thin material, no plush velvet. There is no tie, the tie is only sewn on, it does not stretch until it closes (you can see the small white dot in the picture where it is sewn on) The size is the standard pillowcase. If you put even light gifts in it, it will stretch a little. If you want a durable Christmas bag, this isn't it. It is best to use pillowcases.
