Review on πŸ–₯️ BenQ PD2705U 4K Monitor with Ergonomic Eye Care, Built-In Speakers, High Dynamic Range (HDR), 3840x2160 Resolution by Eric Peikari

Great monitor, not good as a USB-C Mac dock

For color calibration, features and control this is a great monitor for the price for design and photography - so I'm just as happy with this monitor as I was with my other BenQ. But I managed to work with the new Mac Mini and be a single-cable USB-C dock. Not so. The USB-C connection worked great for videos with the included cable. But a few cable swaps and BenQ-ready emails later, I've yet to get the optional USB-A and UBC-C up and running with a wired USB-C connection. Everything works fine for me now - I use HDMI for video and a separate USB cable for connections - but it's not the setup I was hoping for. In honor of BenQ, the company offered to replace it, saying it should work with USB-C, but that's more trouble than it's worth given I've got a panel with no flaws that I'm happy with my performance , just more cable clutter. If you're a BenQ fan, a more expensive model with Thunderbolt connectivity might work better with a Mac.

Pros
  • Experience excellent color coverage: 100% sRGB rec. 709 color gamut and average Delta E ≀3 for high color fidelity. CalMan and Pantone SkinTone confirmed.
Cons
  • fading
