This mug is pretty neat. I love the mermaid and the underwater design on it. I also like that you can choose a fixed color or a fade mode that slowly changes all colors. It requires 3 batteries. So if your kid keeps it on all the time, you can spend a lot of money on batteries. The lid can be washed in the dishwasher, but the base cannot be hand washed as it contains batteries. I have a feeling they could do a better job of sealing the batteries in the lid, but instead it's like any toy, a simple screw is held to the lid. It's a drinking hole only, so it's nice that you don't have to mess with cleaning the straw, but that doesn't make it very suitable for younger kids either. But it's very cute, unique and the kids love it. I also like that it's BPA-free and eco-friendly.
