Review on Breville BES001XL Knock Box Mini: Sleek Stainless Steel Solution for Coffee Ground Disposal by Anthony Shepherd

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Has 2 major design flaws, Not Recommended

"Honey, look, there's a knock box that fits our espresso machine! He'll look great next to a Breville toaster.” Don't do that. . Of course it looks right, nice brushed stainless steel look, the logo is positioned correctly. Do not do that. This knock out box suffers from two major design flaws: 1) The bar that goes over the top (to knock out) is too high, meaning the coffee grounds often splatter on impact unless your coffee puck is almost completely dry. To prevent this, we had to put a small vinyl mat on our backs. Most well-functioning knock boxes have a large notch in the front to keep coffee grounds in the box when you knock. This one looks good but doesn't do the job properly. 2) The polymer they used to fold the pole slightly. On the Mohs hardness scale, this would probably be a 2, while your stainless steel filter holder would probably be a 6. If a 6 collides with a 2, the 2 will be dented or scratched. This happened when I started pounding; small hole in the rod. So I tried some workarounds such as: B. tapping on the sides while letting the puck dry fully and managed to minimize the dents. But that's a terrible strategy in the long run. I decided to just replace this when the bar was completely pockmarked and never buy a Breville knockout box again. Do yourself a favor and avoid this article; Save your thirty bucks for one with a mild steel rod.
