Review on KA-BAR Black Fighting Knife - Model 2-1211-6 by James Lighting

You can't beat this value for money

This knife offers excellent value for money. It's hard to find a knife of this size other than stainless steel for less than $100 let alone a knife of this quality. This is the same Ka-Bar that the Marines used to fight their way across the Pacific, and according to my grandfather, more Marines trust this knife than their rifle to get home safely. The design was so perfect 75 years ago that it could not be improved. Mine is the same as my grandfather's. The weight, balance, carbon steel blade and size make this knife the perfect balance between a combat knife and a survival knife. It's bulletproof; You can't break this thing. This is a tank. I am an avid hiker and traveler and while I have never needed it for combat, I have used and abused this knife and it just keeps working. Its full-shank blade is thick enough for tough jobs that you would normally think would require a much larger knife. The blunt end of the pommel can touch the posts in winter. A hard carbon steel blade is more difficult to sharpen than the softer stainless steel knives in your kitchen, but the harder metal pays off by allowing the blade to last much longer between sharpenings. My grandfather still has it and it is still in as good condition as mine which is only 5 years old. I like it so much I bought a spare in case I lose mine. Since it's not stainless steel, it's best to coat it with some sort of protective film like oil, or even better, just wipe it down with a "hard cloth" to keep it from rusting. This knife will last for generations as perfection cannot be improved upon. I guarantee you'll love this for less than $100? This is not a problem.
