To deal with the long net, I placed a coiled spool of tubing net in a plastic food storage container and fed the net through a hole cut in the lid. So I pulled out and cut off the desired length. Tip: For yarn cones and larger spools, I measure the length on the spool plus the depth at the bottom, then sew and gather the mesh tightly 1/2 inch from the bottom. Turn the netting over and place the shirred end inside the cone (Photo 2). When the bobbin is placed on the sewing machine spindle, the gathered end of the netting is pushed inward, leaving enough netting around the thread cone to prevent the thread from tangling (Photo 3).
