I've been using the SM-57 on an electric guitar amp mic for a while and while they're great, extremely versatile mics, I've always felt that my tone was a bit sounds nasal/overdriven and very sensitive Microphone placement on speaker . So I decided to give it a try. Much airier/natural sounding amp to my ears, and it sounds pretty much the same no matter where you put the mic. This review isn't an attack on the SM-57 (there's a reason they're pretty much the standard), but to me and my ears, the E609 sounded more like what I wanted my amp to sound like to my ears.
