A while ago I had a BAD ankle twist. As he healed, he continued to want to lie down due to the weakness of the initial injury. I received this brace to prevent further injury and speed healing. The bandage stabilizes my ankle very well, prevents it from twisting again and is actually comfortable enough to wear for hours. My only complaint is that it doesn't fit in my work boot, but I doubt a mechanical lock will. My work boots needed a "wrap" brace that combined with my 8-high boots provided enough stability when the boot was laced tight. However, in low shoes that this brace fitted, the brace was much better and gave better stability without sacrificing mobility, up to and including ankle flexion. Absolutely not allowing me to re-twist my ankle while wearing it. Without them it would be difficult for me to stay on my feet during the healing.
