Good, very fast and great for storing all the video files I use on my laptop. sorry for a little bit more. The Windows 10 install and format instructions worked fine, I added this as a second drive. My Dell XPS laptop has a standard 1TB SATA drive. When I bought it in 2012, the cost of SSDs was quite high, so I went for the old style but in larger sizes. At work, I've been using similarly sized SSDs since 2014, although there are sometimes weird issues accessing them that even the IT department can't solve. Not sure if it's the drive other than swapping it with another computer didn't help. When I say access, I mean access speed. I had one where for some reason things took a long time to process. The IT guys replaced me with another machine and replaced the HD but it was still slow while they were looking for the problem, they gave me a machine with a slower processor and I had to reload the software I was using . They came back later and said they couldn't find anything wrong, but I was still having slowdown issues, so I left the machine with a slower processor. It was either a software issue or an issue with the SSD, I'm not sure which, and the IT department wouldn't have cloned it to a non-SSD for me, so I never found out. It doesn't say anything about this drive, it's just that a previous issue I've had with others could be an SSD issue. Right now it takes all the video files I've recorded on it and streams them either to the screen or to my TV via HDMI. Up close, I can say that access and streaming are faster than non-SSDs. Since the graphics card is the same for both, playing detailed high frame rate movies and HD files shows random screen artifacts on the non-SSD but none on the SSD. I am impressed with the results, I spend a lot of time in hotels so by connecting my video files and connecting to the hotels flat screens via HDMI I have a nice crisp HD picture. Another good thing: I tried to fit a larger drive into my machine a few years ago when it was in bad shape but didn't fit due to space constraints. The compact size of this SSD matches the square footage with the storage space, it might not be 2TB but at least it's fast and I can always move files back and forth between the main memory and the OS drive and then I want to play them. I've had some success streaming from a stick in the past, but sometimes they get corrupted that way and stop working if you overuse them. A drive is a bit more reliable than a USB stick here. Recommended for everyone who needs a good and fast second disc. You might want more, but that's fine unless you have a massive library of video or music files. Looking at the list, the best deal would be the 240GB version of this drive. The price increases by less than $20 with twice the storage. The TB versions are still too expensive for me, maybe later when the prices fall.
