Review on 🔊 SMAKN PAM8406 Amplifier Board - Premium German Quality! Exceeds PAM8403 Performance! by Tracy Love

I usually use powered speakers like near field monitors but I somehow got an amazing HiFi system for free recently so I need a clean amp to drive it without coloring the sound. I also didn't want to spend money on an expensive speaker amplifier that I wasn't expecting at all. But wow! Didn't it deliver!? It's ideal for driving those 5-inch open-baffle woofers. Of course, this amp won't have the strength to break glass, but it's not made for that. It can still be very loud and the sound is pretty clear. Mention that I'm upgrading to this amp module from a Scarlette 2i2 preamp. I played with the reinforcement cascade on both to test the coloring. The amp itself, like everything else, has a slight coloring. I'd say it's warmer than the Scarlette Pre and I actually like that it sounds better. However, the transient response of the amp felt slightly compromised, unlike Scarlett who preamped with this module at full power with little boost. and fits my needs well. Can't recommend more for a brace under $100. It could probably even compete or surpass things that are 8 times more expensive. China played well.
