Simple, useful display with a few downsides

I love the build and design of this Lenovo monitor. I find it both practical and aesthetic. It also features well-integrated functional additions like a pen tray and a cut-out for cable management. The body is thin, the bezels are narrow, and the stand takes up relatively little space for a display of this size. But despite these positive qualities, I struggled to get excited about the actual show. Colors look accurate on the matte display, but are a bit washed out and matte. I realize this is a very subjective opinion and some users may prefer this display to an overly bright display with artificially deep, saturated colors. I just prefer the latter. In addition to dullness and washed-out colors, the FHD resolution also appears slightly grainy with visible pixels. I downloaded and installed the Lenovo Artery app to tweak the display, but was disappointed to find that it offered little beyond the standard hardware buttons. The ability to adjust the gamma would be useful but is not offered. The only main Artery feature that isn't available in hardware buttons by default is the split-screen option. This allows you to split the screen into separate windows. This feature is more useful on Mac than Windows because Windows has had similar features for years. The monitor has an overclocking function that worked well in the test. I've been able to test and observe incremental improvements in tracking between overdrive off, normal and extreme. This would be useful for watching videos or playing games. One of the biggest downsides to this monitor is its limited connectivity. Inputs are limited to just one HDMI and one VGA port. That's all. There's no DisplayPort, no USB-C, no Thunderbolt, not even DVI. I needed a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter just to use with an HP EliteBook. With nobody using VGA anymore, it's basically like having only one HDMI port to plug into. It would be a decent monitor for business or desktop use, but it's too limited in too many areas for broader use.

Cons
  • The monitor connections are too difficult to reach.
