My 4.5 year old grandnephew has autism and doesn't speak. He was recently diagnosed. As is often the case with autistic people, they can easily become overexcited and have trouble sleeping. Ever since I bought this blanket and gave it to him for Christmas, he's been sleeping through the night with no problem. My niece (his mother is convinced it's a miracle worker!) When overexcited he often thinks about following him himself and when not she picks him up off the bed and wraps him around her while she talk to him softly or just hug him and that calms him down. Before we know it, he's gone to play or watch his favorite cartoon. This duvet is just the right weight and is usually texture sensitive too, but he loves the softness and texture of his duvet!
