Much better than the junk at any stationery/discount store.

I am very happy that I can still find brand new metal splitters today. Metal extension cords are still far superior to the cheap plastic surge protectors you find at pharmacies, office supply stores, or elsewhere. They are infinitely more durable, have better components, and are safer in terms of fire safety. If a lightning strike or other strong impulse ignites the interior, the metal case will withstand it with ease. Next, I am amazed at the length of the cord! I had no idea it would be 15 feet when I originally bought it. So I "wrap" the extra cord around the back and side of the table to keep it out of the way. For those who don't know, you shouldn't keep an extension cord (or similar) in the kit while in use as it may cause overheating and/or power flow limitation in the long run. Second, I'm very impressed with the sockets (and there are 10 of them, you're joking!) They hold the plugs in place very well and inside they have quality brass contacts. I'm sure they will last for many years, unlike cheaper extension cords where cheap contacts wear out and loosen over time. A large illuminated switch ensures convenient operation, and there is also an LED that shows the status of the overvoltage protection. Although this power strip is listed as "Master", it actually has a base 400V surge suppression at all levels - much better than many others. Mains filter in this price range. So it's also a good choice for the configuration of the computer I'm using it on. I have it on my desk for my laptop, printer, USB/phone chargers and lamp. However, if using on hardwood I would recommend attaching some velcro or felt pads to the bottom to avoid scratching the floor. However, I have it on the carpet, so that's not a problem in my case. Highly recommended and would happily buy again!
