I wanted to use this with my new North State air compressor which has a 220v motor. My power supply uses a two-wire, grounded, 10-gauge power cord (three wires total). I installed it in my pressure switch according to the compressor manufacturer's instructions. The compressor works like a champion. So I connected the sensor to a small lamp wire with one leg on the motor side and the other wire to the ground wire. The compressor continues to run as before, but the pressure gauge does not move. I checked the voltage with the engine running and only see 3.5 volts! I don't know what my problem is, but I know it's not working. None of the wires get hot during compressor operation. The fact that I'm getting voltage on the back of the meter tells me it's not an open circuit. UPDATE: I finally got it working and the fault was all mine. As it turned out, you need to run one wire from the gauge to the hot source, and the other wire to another hot source. To clarify, my compressor works with a 10 gauge wire with three wires inside: two "hot" and "ground". You connect the pressure gauge to two hot contacts on the load side of the pressure switch or on the engine itself. No connection to earth. It doesn't heat the wire or trigger the switch. It just works. So I've increased my rating to 4 stars. Warning: Insulate the wire very carefully, leaving as little bare metal on the terminals as possible. If you accidentally touch it, you'll take full advantage of the voltage your power plant can deliver. I have 245 volts AC between these two terminals on mine so I protected it well with heat shrink tubing. make it a PITA montage. And there is a total lack of documentation. This could have been so easy to connect if someone just included a bare minimum of documentation.
