Review on 🚲 Allen Sports Hitch Racks for 2-Inch Hitch - 4-Bike Capacity by Robert Pearson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The Thule equivalent isn't worth the extra money, I have both.

I have a $250 Thule rack that looks like this. We needed a second rack so I took a chance after reading the reviews. Thule is better made, but the extra beef isn't really needed. Sometimes you really don't need a rebuild. This shelf is lighter and folds for storage - both advantages. There is one issue with this rack that has been noted in a number of reviews. The hitch pin that comes with the kit is approximately 9/16" and the standard 5/8" hitch pin will not fit. For $10 get this set of step drill bits from Harbor Freight, part #60379. In about 3 minutes you'll drill up to a 5/8" hole in this stand, and any standard pin will fit. That's exactly what I did. And you have a set of step drill bits for all kinds of jobs around the house, especially when you need to drill through tin ducts, electrical wiring, plastic or anything else. Another issue with this bike rack is that the receiver is a bit sloppy, but a few turns of tape fixed that issue. Issue #3, 4-3/8" washers under the bolt and nut heads to avoid damaging the powder coating during assembly. Washers are not included. The only feature common to both Thule and this Luggage rack is present is a hinge pin on the underside which allows the bikes to be rotated away from the vehicle to open the sunroof door.Although it takes two people to rotate the bikes and push the pin back in, this is a valuable one Function, therefore excellent value for money.
