I understand your concerns, so let me let you know that we have tested our Extreme Pro UHS-II Type-C Reader on Windows and Mac platforms only. The reader has not been tested and is not designed for use with a cell phone/smartphone interface, therefore it may or may not work as the reader requires a constant surge of power through the computer's USB port.
