    Doesn't offer USB3.0 worthy speed

These reader/writers are working as expected, except for the speed ratings. When writing, I achieve between 4 and 6 MB/s and when reading 6-8 MB/s, which corresponds to the USB 2.0 specifications. I realize that there are some considerations to be made when testing read/write speeds on flash devices. I also understand the scientific method and control settings. Here are the control settings: PC = HP Elitebook 8430 i5 with USB3.0SD = Sandisk Ultra 16GB MicroSD c10 HC1Test = Burn disc ISO image…

    It started crashing

It worked for about a year and then started glitching, meaning random images from the SD card connected to this reader appear corrupted on the screen and even on the thumbnails. They usually look as if they have been bisected horizontally, and these parts are shifted, sometimes with altered patches of color. At first I thought maybe the files are corrupt but then I tried another SD card with the same result. To my surprise, the same corrupted images looked fine when I used the laptop's built-in

    Dangerously hot, corruption

Used this Transcend SD card reader intermittently for several years. I noticed that my SD cards were generating errors, and when I finally got around to running some tests, I noticed how dangerously hot the adapter was. I always thought the cards were the problem until I replaced them with a Satechi USB-C UHS. - II readers. the difference was day and night. Previously "bad" cards have been tested well, and in intense testing have been able to work for more than 5 hours without even feeling…

    Affordable USB 3.x adapter

I've been using an old SanDisk MobileMate+ for years with no problems, but it took too long with these big and large SD and MicroSD cards. Most of these adapters are interchangeable - there are actually about 5 other "brands" that look identical to Transcend, but it was on sale, available with Prime shipping, and, well, sold out. It supports SD and microSD without an adapter. Since this was the "winning" standard in the memory card wars, that's fine. I wish they would form a lid holder on the…

Is it suitable for computer accessories and peripherals

I don't have a card reader on my PC and this was a much cheaper way to read SD cards from my Cannon t3i. This is much more convenient than connecting the camera to a PC. It is inexpensive and easy to use. Since most people only need SD and Micro SD memory cards, this is sufficient. If you need other formats (Compact Flash, Sony Memstick, etc.), get one that also offers these features. Otherwise it does exactly what is needed. I didn't run any speed tests or anything to see if it was actually…

I bought this card reader because I currently only have USB 2.0 which means the bottleneck when testing high performance cards is the card reader. I bought this USB 3.1 Gen 1 card reader (USB 3.2 Gen 1 as it's now called) hoping it would solve this problem. The USB ports on all my computers are 5Gbps (the whole USB-IF naming structure is confusing and confusing. My ports are NOW called USB 3.2 Gen 1 but used to be more commonly called USB 3.0 or USB 3.1 Gen 1). ). I don't have UHS-II cards…

Works well though, doesn't work for long even with moderate use

I've bought two of these now and they're little used - now both refuse to recognize micro SD cards and half the time when they are not a computer, they do not people that reading is connected. When it works it works well, it often does when it's new, but after a year or so it eventually starts to degrade to the point where it's unusable. I guess you get what you pay for, but I'll be looking for a new SD/MicoSD reader as I'm tired of replacing this one. To be clear, they weren't bought at the…

Excellent unit, the new ones are heated.

I have one of these, a bit older (early 2016) that I would give 5 stars for. These devices are aesthetically pleasing, work very fast, and fit almost anywhere that has a USB port. I received two more of these yesterday and they still work fine, but something has changed. They work HOT. This is something new. Worse, for the application I needed them for, they limit the performance of the SD card, apparently since we use them with WiFi SD cards. The cards used to work fine, but with these last…

    Decent card reader.

I have a game camera because I don't hunt, but I would like to know which animals cross my dorsal magpies. Well, it has a micro SD card on which it stores photos. My laptop has a built-in SD card reader but no micro SD card reader. So I bought it from Revain. This is a lightweight plastic case with a USB connector (with a protective cover) and side slots for an SD card and a micro SD card. Well I tried the SD card slot and it worked fine, my computer recognized it automatically and asked if I…
