Review on High-Speed Transcend TS-RDF5K USB 3.1 Card Reader for SDHC/SDXC/microSDHC/SDXC Cards - Black by Robert Smith

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It started crashing

It worked for about a year and then started glitching, meaning random images from the SD card connected to this reader appear corrupted on the screen and even on the thumbnails. They usually look as if they have been bisected horizontally, and these parts are shifted, sometimes with altered patches of color. At first I thought maybe the files are corrupt but then I tried another SD card with the same result. To my surprise, the same corrupted images looked fine when I used the laptop's built-in card reader. Something else. Transcend adapter gets hotter than others. It's time to look for something more reliable. By the way, when connected to a USB 3.0 port, the transfer speed was about 26MB.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • There are problems
