I was very happy to know that the online reviews were correct; To set up the remote, all you have to do is insert batteries and turn it on. The remote fitted our LG TV directly and is a very good replacement for our own battered remote (the volume button was worn). My only gripe is that the buttons are a bit small and the mute button (which I use a lot) is hard to see from a distance. So I used a colored marker writing on the plastic to highlight the button. The color washes out quickly, but is easy to apply again.
