My experience with digital cameras is limited so this review is written from a beginner's point of view. So far I am very happy with this camera. I bought this camera specifically for the upcoming vacation. So far I think the battery life is very good. I took about 300 shots, about 30 of them with flash and fully charged battery. Indoor shots produced grainy and/or overexposed shots in certain lighting conditions, but lounging on the couch with the instruction manual on a Sunday afternoon yielded the best results. In good sunshine and good lighting conditions, the camera takes amazing pictures. The camera has many features and unless you are a gadget lover I see this as a downside. But if you want a high-resolution camera that can act like an SLR (but not quite like an SLR), this camera is good for you. Once I got used to the controls (and I did very quickly), my results improved significantly. GPS does not work clearly in the city. I live in Washington DC which has mostly 4 story and max 6 story buildings and so far I haven't been able to get a very good signal. However, in more open environments, this feature falls into the "wow, that's so cool" category. The case is ergonomically practical. The camera is easy to control overhead, crowds, or shoot from the hip. Overall, I am sure that this camera will serve me well on vacation and in my free time.
