Review on ๐ŸŒท Brighten Up Your Space with HomArt Glass Bulb Vase, Extra Tall - 1 Count by Alicia Aftanas

Suitable for large amaryllis bulbs, good solution for people who don't have a "green thumb "

I bought one of these as a gift for someone who shares my passion for amaryllis bulbs. I've seen similar vases but very small for hyacinths and white flowers. This was the first time I've been able to find one big enough to hold an amaryllis. The recipient was very happy. One of American Meadows' giant onions fits in easily. These vases are a good solution for people who are not particularly knowledgeable about plant care. The biggest trick to growing is to water the roots and keep the bulb relatively dry to avoid mold. This can be a problem if you're growing onions in a pot full of soil, as it's harder to tell if you've overwatered. With these vases, the roots are immersed in water at the bottom while the bulb remains dry at the top. (You can do the same thing by growing them in a large Hurricane vase set on a few inches of gravel or decorative rocks, but it's even more reliable.) It's true that these vases aren't made of particularly thick glass. So you have to be careful with them. They're not exactly cheap for such a simple looking design, so I can understand another reviewer's frustration at receiving it broken. But as this is an unusual item and hard to find in such a large size I can't complain too bitterly about the price and durability. I'm just glad I was able to find it at all.
