I was afraid that after I put the crayons in the case they might bulge a little or seal badly; but I was wrong. Pencils fit snugly but are easy to remove. I was able to salvage a few fine colored markers. (For markets I had to leave every third st empty to allow for slightly thicker markings) Color as pictured. The zippers close easily and look secure. The seams are not rough, very strong. The cover is slightly structured. I compare this feeling. Each of the 3 sections opens to lay flat. In the first section there are 2 places for an eraser and 1 for a thick marker. On the outside of the case, on the back, is a pocket/window label for quick, at-a-glance identification. I only gave 4 stars because it's bigger than I imagined and it's more my fault for not checking the measurements.
