we needed a mantel clock big enough to see the whole room but small enough not to overshadow the picture above the fireplace. This clock met those requirements, so it was purchased (there were other mantel clocks that would have looked better but weren't big enough to be seen "from a distance"). We went for a cherry finish and it's a beautiful and accurate watch. The call worked when first tuned in, but then it started to degrade in sound until it started ringing all the time. Changing the batteries didn't help, so we've disabled this feature for now. Yes, we could return it, but we'd like it looked at first - maybe it just needs a little tweaking!
