My cat who uses this tree is 9 pounds and is not afraid to jump on it and lie on it and look out the window. I fear for you. I've had this tree since she was a kitten and the way it's assembled isn't stable. The post is loose and some cannot be tightened. Even when all the bars are under maximum tension, the tree will sway not only when climbing, but also when changing position on the seat. This tree may be good for kittens, but kittens grow up. I also bought a second tree for research and it is very durable.
