Update April 23, 2019: I contacted Plugable Customer Service and they responded quickly, politely, understandingly and in detail. Their tech believes that the 2m cable and the fact that it's Thunderbolt 3 means that two phones connected together may not be putting out enough power to maintain a stable connection, which is why I've been seeing dropouts. I also reproduced this between a Pixel 2 XL and a Samsung Galaxy S10+. However, connecting my phone to my PC's USB-C 3.1gen2 port worked perfectly as expected, maintaining a stable connection for fast data transfers to and from the PC. Their customer service was open and offered a refund in this situation, but I politely declined, stating that I would be embarrassed to get a refund as the cable doesn't appear to be defective as the PC and charging option work. They offered to provide an additional cable to cover the remaining use case and I accepted the offer. I will update the review in due course. This pleasant exchange allowed me to restore some of the stars in the rating. Initial Rating: Stays connected to my USB PD charger better than my $9 USB 3.1 cable that is 1 year old. I bought this cable after hearing many rave reviews from respectable people and after my old $9 USB 3.1 C-to-C cable started to peel off where it easily cut power and data when the cable itself was not correctly positioned. Unfortunately, everything was not very rosy. Yesterday I wanted to help my parents to transfer data from their old phone (Google Pixel XL) to their new phone (Google Pixel 3 XL) with this plug-in cable, so it's much faster than the supplied USB 2.0 cable. The transfer *ALWAYS* got stuck at 60% and failed. I tried again and again by restarting a new phone. The same thing. What have I done to overcome this obstacle? I grabbed an old $9 USB 3.1 C-to-C cable from my trash can and gave it a try. The transfer was immediately successful. Yes, that $9 cable was also a 2m USB 3.1 cable. This leads me to suspect that there might be something wrong with the connection cable. At this point I am completely disappointed as I bought this expensive cable specifically for peace of mind. as I didn't want to buy another $9 cable and it would fail again within a year. But in this case, the already unreliable $9 cable still did the job and saved the day. Disappointed.
