Yes and no for protection and locks
The glue is very sticky and strong. The straps worked great and my toddler couldn't untie them. The straps are adjustable in length, which allows them to be used on cabinets and refrigerator doors that are not a flat surface. However, the short locks did not work. I put it on my closet and my toddler broke it by pulling on the door. Didn't even last a day. Use strap locks, but avoid short locks.
