Review on Nilight Projector Headlights Headlamps Conversion by Mardrequs Dorsey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice and cheap but requires a lamp spacer for optimal light output

Installed these projectors in a 9007 reflector housing along with a 5000k H1 HID kit and 9007 bixenon relay harness This is by far the least expensive retrofit project I've come across. Installation was pretty easy. All necessary hardware and mounting accessories were included. And unlike previous reviews, I came with 8 small screws needed to attach the cover to the projector. Before installing, I tested the bi-xenon solenoids about 30 times each with a 9 volt battery to make sure they were working properly. The most difficult part of the setup was probably the spin alignment. After installing the projector in the case, but before I reseal the lens cover, I test the mount on the car to check the alignment of the cut when turning. I tried to make it as flat and horizontal as possible, then tightened the lock nut. It turned out to be satisfactory. It would be even better if there was a way to easily adjust the rotation of the projector after final assembly. The second problem I encountered was that the access point was well above the cutoff line. That meant most of the usable light could only be seen in high beam mode. A test drive confirmed fairly weak low beam with weak high beam. Not exactly perfect, so like the other guy, I spent about 30 minutes aligning the bulbs with cardboard at the 6 o'clock position of the bulb base. This tilted the bulb down slightly, causing the hotspot to fall. With three layers of cardboard I was able to set the hotspot right around the cutoff line to improve the lighting tremendously. All in all these projectors are good value if you put in the extra time to fine-tune them, ie if you want better lighting than your standard halogens.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Nothing here
