DEAD in 93 DAYS. (updated) or so I thought

I bought this sharpener after reading countless reviews of other models and brands because I need a sharpener that will last a long time and sharpen pencils properly without having to mess with the hassle Having to argue quirks about how he sharpens. I didn't want to twist the pencil or insert the pencil at an angle or do other stupid, annoying things to get an EVEN sharpened pencil! I loved this sharpener and my students loved it, obsessed over it. It WAS a favorite pencil sharpener in ALL high schools. It worked as advertised even though it only had ONE blade (*Note: the manufacturer's website states that this model, The 1612 has TWO hardened steel X-ACTO burners. It is definitely NOT! ) The reason I gave this sharpener 1 star is because it stopped working after only 93 DAYS on February 1st! 3 DAYS after Amazon's 90-day return window. I would estimate he got less than 1000 sharpening before kicking the can. I cleaned the sharpener, blew out the stuck shavings with compressed air, and nothing. It just doesn't work. DOES ANYONE MAKE A PENCH THAT WORKS MORE PERMANENTLY? **Update** After I pronounced this sharpener dead, it sat on my storage shelf for 3 months. We had about 3.5 weeks of the school year left and I was cleaning up and decided to unplug it and plug it in just to see what happens before I screw up. I pocketed it put in a new pencil (Dixon brand) and nothing. didn't start. I turned the size wheel, removed the shaving bath and put it back in - nothing. Something made me slam the sharpener on the back, like a baby's back, and like a monster waking from eternal sleep, my sharpener came to life! I couldn't believe it worked and slapped it everywhere. I'm not a fan of beating things up to make them work. However, this is now a quirk that my sharpener has developed. If it sits for a while it might not turn on when you insert a pencil, and when you tap it on the back it kind of springs to life with a roar of black magic. Of course, my students were happy that the sharpener worked again and so did I to some extent. So I've added two stars to this review and given it 3/5. First of all because of the problems, the frustration and the added expense of replacing that sharpener with something else after it breaks. Now I have more than one spare pencil sharpener. Which doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing.
