Review on Dorman 924 739 Ignition Switch Actuator by Antonio Fox

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works as advertised; Saves $$$

My Chrysler 300 just wouldn't start one day. The battery was fine, but turning the key to the "START" position did nothing: no sound, no light. Google this issue and you will find HUNDREDS of Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep examples. It takes hours of searching YouTube to get to this part to find a video for your particular type of car (it takes a fair amount of effort to remove the dash to unlock a couple of friction clips). , and the fear of breaking a component of the dashboard is very high. This small piece (roughly 3 inches by 1 inch) is actually buried in a much larger switch assembly that's about the size of a small bottle of Gatorade. Dash requires YouTube, skill and patience. After disembarking, it still takes a few screws and nerve strength to disassemble the case, but SURE the old part with the broken tip is waiting for you. (The part that breaks off is a tiny spike - maybe 3/8 inch by 1/8!) The metal used for this part is the same as the original part which looks like cast zinc - this is NOT steel, stainless steel or any other Metal that fills you with confidence. It really matches the OEM stuff (which in my case lasted long enough to put in 95,000 miles before failing)! After I reinstalled everything, everything worked on the first try. As you probably know, Mopar doesn't sell you this part, only the entire bottle-sized Gatorade assembly.
