First of all, this globe is incredibly beautiful. The colors are vibrant (more on that later), the chrome stand is just the right weight, and the included bonus items are nice. compass and keychain. But I was only able to give 3 stars for the following reasons: Firstly, I was very disappointed to find that I couldn't adjust the tilt of the axis - it's fixed. Unlike the globes we had at school, it cannot be rotated so that, for example, it is easier to examine the Arctic Circle while sitting. Second, it doesn't spin freely because the builder overtightened the mounting screw and you can hear a rubbing noise when you try to spin it. For the price, it should spin freely and silently, like it has precision ball bearings. Now for light colors. They're too bright, and because of that, there's so much glare in a lit room that it's almost impossible to read the fine print for city names and longitude and latitude numbers. And finally, the suture is not perfectly aligned at the equator. Again, you would expect a higher level of quality for a $100 globe.
