Missed the mark for me

This review is for the TicPods 2 Standard. I really wanted these to work. I was interested in an updated pair of open-ear style wireless headphones that would work well for staying aware while working out and ones that didn't give me that underwater feeling. Ultimately, the cons outweighed the pros for me, but take a look as it could be subjective depending on what you're looking for.PROS:- Super affordable ($70 at the time of purchase) with USB-C and nice form factor and colors.- Pairing was painless both via traditional method and through the app.- Open ear design was as described - no plugged feeling and I had maybe 20-30% reduction of ambient noise, which was exactly what I wanted.- Audio quality was great on the standard EQ setting and other presets made it even better imo but I am not an audiophile.- Volume slider was as awesome and satisfying as I thought it was going to be.- I initially appreciated the lack of a single tap function to avoid misclicks, but see cons.CONS:- . No single tap would be helped by more flexibility in either the double tap or long hold functions. Double tapping on either bud could only skip track, and my app wouldn't allow a modification to play/pause. Not sure if this was a glitch or a limitation of the non-Pro version. Longhold could only bring up my phone's assistant. I would love to be able to have at least play/pause and skip track available together via touch controls like every other set out there.- App was kinda glitchy. The connection "failed" often when it came to updating EQ or touch control preferences, even when media was still playing. And minor annoyance, but I really did not want to create a Mobvoi account to use the app.- The size and shape of the buds themselves ended up being too large for my ear anatomy, and I got ear soreness within minutes of wearing. I use the smallest silicone tips for Galaxy Buds, if that reference helps.

Pros
  • The intuitive touch controls make it easy to adjust volume, skip tracks, and answer calls on-the-go
Cons
  • The earbuds do not have a voice assistant integration option.
