You know, I've been looking at different back porch lighting options for a while now. While I have the large garlands I placed these small baubles inside the shade so they will light up the shade and table top below. As you can see from the photos they emit yellow light, not bright white. They are great for accents and provide enough light to carry on a conversation even at night after the sun has set. Lights have 8 preset lighting modes. I really only need the setting when they're all on, but I think it would be nice to try a different setting during the holidays or a party. These lights also came with a remote control. The range isn't great (it's also an IR remote), but it has a number of options, including a timer function. I usually turn on the timer and then just walk in without worrying about turning them off. There are a number of buttons on the remote and I haven't used all of them but the ones that work well. A possible suggestion for the manufacturer would be to include a small piece of paper with a note of what all the buttons do. It's been pretty clear so far, but I'll update the review if anything unexpected comes up. Finally, remember that they're battery operated (good thing when paired with a remote control because they can go pretty much anywhere you can get). The baubles are also on the small side which I liked because I could wrap them around and between the fabric cover of my parasol.
