Review on 🚲 Saris Beam Bike Tube Adapter - Black, Universal Size (3040) - Optimize your search! by Robert Diaz

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Poorly designed bike racks and bags

It consists of two different diameter steel tubes that "slide out" together as an extendable block/carrier. It stretches slightly but is not fixed in length. It extends from the seat post to the handlebars and is supported by two support arms. It loses its straightness when it flexes 1/4 and a few degrees in the center plastic collar due to the weight of the bike at the ends and support arms in 3/4 positions of its extended length. . This creates the uncomfortable feeling that the two steel tubes are going apart in the middle with the bumps in the road. Its length was barely long enough for my mountain bike (if I hadn't forgotten to measure the maximum length before returning I would have told you here). The two ends of the box open with a plastic latch that's small and painful to push with a finger to release and too flimsy to inspire confidence in keeping the ends locked for bumpy roads. Make sure you need a beam before purchasing. Bikes with quick-release seats help make leveling the bike more convenient, but don't expect straight carry unless you have a very long seatpost. If you need a beam, look for a better one than this.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
