Review on 🎧 Audio-Technica ATH-WS660BTGBL Solid Bass Bluetooth Over-Ear Headphones with Mic & Control, Gunmetal/Blue – Wireless by Adam Taylor

Stops working after 8 months

I have always loved music and headphones and have tried many cheap to mid-range in-ear headphones. I never liked the Beats and my last pair was the Sony MDRXB950BT which I liked the sound of, but the build quality wasn't very good. They broke after about a year and I needed a new pair. I considered buying them again but read that they always break and that's a design flaw. I always read about Audio Technica when I was looking for headphones and wanted to buy a pair but didn't want to break the bank so I bought them. I'm sure they will sound better after 10 hours, but they sound very good out of the box. Build quality is amazingly better than Sony's, they feel very solid and don't have flimsy hinges or joints. They're comfortable (although perhaps a bit tight around the ears, perhaps larger ear pads could have been sourced) and they look good. They also don't seem like a lack of bass to me. I listen to a lot of rap and dubstep and I used to have a louder high and low EQ for the Sony and I thought it sounded fantastic. I went back to the flat EQ with them, they sound much better and have a very nice bass. It has an appeal and you can hear different frequencies much more clearly. I always thought the Beats had bad bass too so I'm really not sure what others are talking about, I think I've had different experiences but these sound great and have perfectly adequate bass with no EQ boost. I definitely recommend these headphones. UPDATE: September 2019 (purchased January 2019) started playing from one ear. I thought it was the extra cable, threw it away and (too quickly) bought another one. The problem persisted with the new accessory cable and on a different device. Another pair of headphones works fine on my device. I have checked all my settings and audio player options and mono is not enabled and nothing has changed. The problem must be with the headphones, not sure why as I've never dropped them or anything that might damage them.

Pros
  • Internal battery provides up to 40 hours of continuous use (1000 hours standby time) on a full charge
Cons
  • No power

Fairly comfortable and light, but cheap build and sound quality: Not worth the money.
