I have flashed devices with ESPhome and am very happy with it. They have an excellent WiFi signal range and I am very happy with them. To flash them I had to open them up and solder some wires and I was surprised to see the build quality of the board. They use their own Wi-Fi board, unlike many other commercial devices that use standard "ESP" modules. And judging by the strength of the Wi-Fi signal, they did a very good job! Highly recommended if you want to switch plugins that you can easily flash with alternative firmwares.
