500107862016 bytes (500GB, 466GB) copied, 3160.47s, 158MB/s This should answer questions about average speed and capacity. Speed may vary by system, buffer, etc. Write speeds on this system start at 400+ MB/s and then drop to 100-150 MB/s. This is a laptop and uses a USB3 connector, not USB-C. YMMV. It gets hot, but if you look at the internal temperature of your system under load, hard drives can get up to 60Β°C and CPUs up to 90+C, and far from it. Obviously write operations generate more heat than read operations. There seems to be some throttling at very high temperatures, but that's after continuous writes (I've tested writing the entire disc a couple of times). The 400MB/s speed is held back by a good amount of GB (don't remember the exact number), indicating a very large cache or if thermal throttling is triggered, although it dropped an IIRC step, indicating that the cache is full and not thermal, which is likely linear or multi-stage. I have ordered many different sizes and I hope that this good rating does not jinx them. ;)
