Don't worry, here's the answer! The case essentially forms a leather folio around the surface and offers fantastic protection on the front and back, although there is slightly less protection on the sides. Inserting the Surface Pro into the case is very easy: you open the small leather strap on one long side of the case, slide the Surface Pro in and close the strap with Velcro. The fit is snug, but not tight - the Surface doesn't slide inside the case at all - and the keyboard works great with it, although the case works just as well with or without a keyboard. The only difference is that after installing this case, you adjust the angle of your Surface using the Velcro on the case instead of Surface's built-in stand. The case contributes a lot to the overall thickness of your Surface, but it doesn't add significantly to the weight. Some useful tips in this case: 1) If you're not careful, the skin along the long side of this hingeless case can cover the Surface Camera and optical sensors. To minimize this, make sure the Velcro tab is wrapped around the back of the Surface as tightly as possible (this may not make sense when reading, but it does make sense if you're putting your Surface in a case). Here's the trick: first stick the index card (or something similar in size) into the hole so the velcro doesn't stick right away, then slide the velcro tab into the slot as far as it will go, then pull out the index card. Again, this will come in handy when you use the case! 2) It may seem obvious, but before attempting to place your Surface in this case, disconnect your keyboard and reconnect your keyboard afterwards. 3) As I mentioned above, this case offers excellent protection for the front and back of your Surface, but it's still vulnerable if you drop it on its side, especially in a corner. For most people this shouldn't be a problem and this case should offer more than enough protection in an office environment or when traveling. But I wouldn't use this case in harsh environments like a construction site. Overall I am very happy with this case and will definitely buy it again.
