Review on πŸš— Walker Exhaust Ultra EPA 16220: The Ultimate Direct Fit Catalytic Converter by Vivian Eker

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Looks good but has limitations

I bought this item to fix an emissions issue that was causing the DTC to keep popping up. The Revain price was by far the cheapest. Certainly less than a dealer replacement. However, there are a few things to consider. First, the OEM header has studs on the exhaust end. Part #16220 has no studs, just a flange. You must provide nuts and bolts. Secondly, the standard heat shield is not suitable for a new cat. It has an integrated screen that faces the engine but not the radiator. This may not be a problem as the spool is much smaller in diameter than the OEM spool. Third, the original bolts attached to the heat shield with the wires from the lower O2 sensor do not mate with the new cat's mounting flanges; You will also need to buy screws, I assume M6 (regular pitch). Fourth, there is a simple loop for attaching the bottom bracket to the engine block. The OEM cat had a hairpin. The loop wasn't close enough so I didn't connect it. This can be done with a little elbow grease (and another screw). However, these are minor issues and the cat looks fine. Time will tell if it lasts as long as the OEM version. These cars appear heavy to the collector.
