I think it would be a little easier to clean if it was polished along the whole length, rather than having the spoon be polished and the handle be bead-blasted. But other than that, it's a great spoon. I'm a weight-fanatic so although it comes with a nice carrying case, I don't bring that, just the spoon. It's the perfect length to reach all the way down into a Mountain House bag (which is my requirement, YMMV) and still stows neatly lengthwise in a Kifaru "Medium" sized ultra-light pullout, which is how I store my stove and other camp kit. Great spoon.
