The lights on the unit are not flashing and the unit's speaker has dents, it may have been dropped which may be the reason for the lights not working (because the light inside is where the speaker is), the device is defective, hence 1 star. Thank goodness I tested it before giving it to my niece as an early Christmas present so I had to go back to get a replacement. I will update the review once a replacement has been received and tested. ** UPDATE Review *** This mic is junk, got a replacement and no longer works fully so the most annoying thing is that the recording is loud when you turn it on. Gosh, and when you switch modes, it's like the mic yelling at you. I thought it was just the first unit as it didn't work, but no, they both have that loud voice when you turn them on. now cons. Charging is very loose and doesn't charge properly like you have to stick a plug into the mic to charge it. Again, not all the lights flash, only the bottom two bars light up when music is playing via Bluetooth and when you're singing without music, they don't flash, and the funny thing is that another model of FM radio worked, the only thing worked well. It picks up stations and you can auto scan and manual scan for stations, this unit only has auto scan and it doesn't record FM stations, everything and all of this mic is complete bullshit, I mean I've bought a lot of things from Amazon but this is by far the worst device i have ever spent money on, money back for a refund. I will look for the best microphone
