This is our second Sport Dog product with transmitter failures. Our first was a junior model whose transmitter battery would not recharge after about 9 months of home use on the Sheppard for behavioral and training purposes. I figured I'd get an upgrade by buying the new premium 1275 series with an OLED display. I expected better technology and that it would last at least a year or two with a premium lithium battery. The battery life in the premium model is significantly lower. The controls are better and the display is great as it confirms battery life on the remote and makes it easier to decipher stimulation and level information. After about 10 charging processes, however, the hand-held transmitter does not receive any charge at all. Does not recognize that the charger is connected or charging. I cleaned the contacts on both ends, plugged and unplugged, played around with the cables - nada zip. The remote control is sealed and must be opened with a TORX screwdriver. There is no way to open it without a new tool. It is not possible to reset the transmitter or turn off the power to force a reset. We finally got in touch with Sport Dog support. They kindly replace us with a full set - collar, transmitter and power supply under warranty.
